When I went into business my goal was to be more professional than the companies I had worked for, and to offer employees a better place to work.
I thought I would like to go into the commercial, tenant improvement industry.

I sought these types of jobs because of my vast experience in commercial electrical work. Through word of mouth I started getting smaller jobs for home owners. Never really working for home owners I didn’t really think much of the service we provided. I just treated home owners the way I would expect a contractor to treat me in my home. Professionally!

After awhile I began to be busier doing more work for home owners than for anyone else and all my work was word of mouth. I really didn’t know what I was doing different than other contractors so I inquired from my customers why they liked my service and I was shocked to find out what kind of service home owners had to put up with from other contractors.

Some complaints about other contractors were:

• The home and carpet were left dirty.
• The Home Owner had to put up all the money up front, then
the job took forever, and went over budget.
• Contractors will not return calls.
• Home Owners could only pay cash.
• The electrical contractor wouldn’t supply the fixtures.
• The contractor left huge holes in my walls.
• The contractor showed up late and left early.
• Unfamiliar people would show up unexpectedly to do work.
• Some contractors even showed up late and worked until 2 a.m., then
didn’t show up for two weeks.

Turns out the average contractor was treating their customers like they were not living in their home, but rather that the home was a job site. (Needless to say we don’t do those things)
